The People’s Community Baptist Church
It’s the “responsible overseeing and protection of something considered worth caring for and preserving’ (Dictionary.com). Additionally, it is “the management of property by a servant on behalf of its owner” (The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church). It’s a term with enormous implications and multi-faceted application. The steward always is held accountable to the rightful owner and will give an account of his/her stewardship at an appointed time. You can find a great example of this in Matthew 25:14-31.
